D. THOMAS MARINE HELLAS S.A. through its consulting engineering services, offers leading edge technological solutions in design work.

Our group's mission is to provide quality services of high standard within the requirements set by our customers.

To serve this scope, we have invested in skilled full time employees and state of the art marine software.

Our team consists of:

  • Naval Architects, Marine Engineers.

  • Mechanical and Electrical Engineers.

  • Steel & Pipe Work experts.

  • IT. Engineers.

  • Draught men.

  • Programmers & support personnel.

Our well trained and skilled personnel using the owned powerful tools, is capable to undertake and successfully complete any
type of design work specified by the customer in the fields of:

  • New Buildings

We can provide full time involvement in pre-contract negotiations, specification composition and appraisal, Technical Memoranda, Technical Meetings Preparation and Attendance, Plan Approval (from the owners view) and on site attendance.
We also assist owners on new building's makers list, and attend shop tests, sea trials, etc. Our personnel has gained
significant experience in Chinese and mostly Korean shipyards, having attended new building projects for Bulk Carriers and
Product Tankers, as Hull, Painting, Outfitting Supervisors.

  • Design Tasks

Our team has been involved in numerous design projects over the years. Using our integrated software packages (Autoship, Simsmart, B.V. Steel) they are capably covering all aspects of ship design i.e. from Hull Modeling to Structural Design
(both global and local), and detailed design of piping systems. Using our experience from our appraisal and plan approval work
as well as the consulting work carried out on the implementation of various regulations, we produce novel design concepts.
Our latest accomplishment is the design of a series of tug boats that will operate in Greek Ports. Currently our team is working on a Passenger vessel for daily cruises.

  • Major & Minor Conversions

Our engineers have been involved in various conversion projects from design work to attendance during construction. There
has been extensive involvement in compartment re-arrangement of general cargo vessels (re-arrangement of decks and cargo
holds, fitting of CO2 compartments, re-arrangement of tanks, etc.) as well as retrofitting of deck equipment (addition of cranes, removal of cranes, vapor control systems etc). The studies related with conversion work are accomplished by using our state
of the art software for FEA, stability, longitudinal strength, as well as CAD for the production of the necessary structural drawings.
Some work has been done in other kinds of conversions like increase of ship's length and conversions of CBT Tankers to SBT
for compliance with MARPOL requirements.
Our latest work involves conversion of single Hull Tankers to Double Hull according to IMO Regulations.

MARINE SOFTWARE

Our group is an authorized user of the following widely-known and recognized
marine software:

  1. Autoship CAD/CAM & Cargo Management/Stowage Planning Software
The autoship suit is capable to cover the complete design from a rubber boat to a
    super tanker.
It also supports vessel's operations as an onboard loading and Stowage Planning Program.

  2. Simsmart, Real Time Simulation and Design Software is a virtual environment for
processes involving: Fluids, High Pressure Gas, HVAC, Electrical and Automation Applications, etc. Simsmart software is
extensively used by the U.S.A. Navy for the verification, optimization of their New buildings projects.

  3. Steel of Bureau Veritas
3-D Finite Elements Software for local structural problems.

  4. ShipRight of Lloyd's Register
Full scale Finite Elements modeling, for the structural design of all types of vessels from first principles with regard to the
    imposed dynamic loads.

  5. Rulefinder of Lloyd's Register
Yearly updated database of existing and future rules and regulations.
